During a lecture, the instructor pauses at key points to allow students to catch up on their notes and then exchange them with their neighbor. Students may discuss examples/definitions they may have missed or wrote down differently. Give a set amount of time for exchange, discussion, and length between note exchanges.

To make it most effective, introduce students to the activity at the beginning of the semester and use it consistently. While this can be done with technology (may be more of an oral discussion than physical exchange of laptops), it is easier to facilitate with written notes.
