To identify what students see as significant or important learning. Stop class for 2-5 minutes and ask students to respond briefly to some variation on these questions: “What was the most important thing you learned during this class?” and “What important questions remain unanswered?” Students write responses on index cards or half sheets of paper and hand them in.

RETURN TO INDEX

Sort the papers quickly into piles based on trends you see. Did what students identified align with your goals? If not, why not? What can you do to address problematic trends in the next class? Similar to an Exit Ticket, but can be done at any point in the class period.
